Join us for the release of the Global Anti-Scam Alliance’s (GASA) The State of Scams in the UK report for 2024, published together with Cifas, the UK’s leading fraud prevention service.  

  

With Black Friday and the festive season imminent, and millions of shoppers heading online to secure the latest offers, criminals are poised, ready to exploit them – armed with a selection box of scam tactics. It has never been more important to help keep businesses and consumers safe.  

  

On Tuesday 26 November, 8.30am-9.30am, experts from Cifas and GASA will present the latest report data during a VIP webinar. They’ll also exclusively reveal the true extent of British consumers’ losses to scams over the last 12 months and shed light on the threats facing the UK economy. 

 

Key Findings

  • Total Loss: £11.4 billion lost in the past 12 months, with an average loss per victim of £1,400.

  • Most Common Scams: Parcel delivery messages, purchase scams, and investment fraud remain the most reported scams.

  • Emotional Toll: 1 in 2 victims report a strong emotional impact.

  • Reporting Gap: 71% of scam victims did not report the incident.
